Come on a walk with me

Hello to 2011 - I know, I know, it's a bit late, but 'better late than never' (Whatever that means, I'm not sure I like that idea, as I'm always a person who is on time).  Here's the long-awaited-for-first-blog-of-the-year, for all the thousands of you who read this....
You know that film 'The Lake House'?  No?  Well, it's not very good, but it has got Keanu Reaves in it, so it's worth a look.  Anyway, in one scene, he (Keanu) takes her (Sandra Bullock - pah!) on a walk around Chicago.  Only, he's not really there, so everything is done via photos and descriptions.  Do you get where this is going?

I'm going to take you on a walk through Chicago Banbury, only, before we begin, I must tell you that, true to form, the camera broke down, so we'll have to do the walk in installments.
We start off by the front door, which looks like it could do with a llick of paint........  If you're still awake, let's go out into the street.....
..... and walk along to the park.  I'm very lucky, as the park is just along the road; it's not very big, and it's just starting to look pretty, but it's not a bad walk into town.

Well, here we are.  I told you it wasn't very big.  It's called 'People's Park', because it was given to the people by the family who used to own it.  It used to be their garden!  Can you imagine.  There's even a couple of little pet graves in here, but I didn't  manage to capture them today, because of the camera.  But I'll show them to you one day.  There is a War Memorial, still covered with poppies, even though it's February.  I love the way the poppies are left there for months, and have been buried in the snow, and re-appear, just as vibrant as when they were placed there.

Onward to the first colour of the season - the crocuses!  Early days for them, but they are already starting to cheer us up, I feel.

Now, which way to go?  You choose, and I'll lead on.....

next time!

  1. Yippee, you're back!

I was just beginning to get into my stride when you stopped for a tea break, even I can walk further than that without a cuppa!

I felt as if I had actually just stepped out of your front door and seeing the road brought back some lovely memories.

I don't care which way we go, you know I'll follow you anywhere!
