Procrastination

For weeks now, no, possibly months, I have had the most awful, difficult and shouldn't-be-attempted-by-a-wimpish-female job to do on the house.  I've put it off and put it off because I knew I would make a complete mess of it, and probably make it worse.  I feel angry and frustrated that I can't afford to pay someone who actually knows how to do it properly.  So, the other day, I decided to tackle it head on.  Before I could do that, though, I thought I would make a nice big breakfast to set me up, and give me the courage and strength that I was going to need ...

Just the ticket, and of course breakfast has to be taken at a leisurely pace, especially when one has a day off work, so that's what I did.  An hour later,  I was ready - but then it occured to me that I should just go and harvest some produce in case I didn't have time later.  We needed to eat that day, so it had to be done.......

I've got a feeling that I spent a little bit too much time admiring the harvest that day, but at least that was one thing I was absolutely sure that I was going to feel proud of myself for.  Diversionary tactics were going well so far, I thought.  Looking skyward, I was afraid it was going to rain, so realised that I should really mow the lawn .......

After that, I actually couldn't think of anything else to do, to put the job off.  So I set about getting all my equipment ready, like a proper workwoman.  I headed to the cupboard to collect everything, but noticed that all the screws were just jumbled up together in a messy box.  They need sorting, surely, otherwise I might pick the wrong ones?

I didn't know I had so many different sizes of screws.  Not only the sizes, though, some were made of brass, some steel (?), some of something else, some had flat heads, some had round heads; astonishing, really.  And I don't know why I've got them; must be inherited screw-wealth.

Now here comes the actual chore that I did.

I fixed the guttering!  :)

  1. I bet you were "guttered" that you actually finally had to do it!! (Sorry, I really couldn't help it!)
