Fabulous time was had by all, as we knew we would. 82 year old mother pounded those streets like a teenager (well, probably better, really, as teenagers don't like to walk), and we covered miles. We did the usual, visited the sites, etc, and the highlights were too many to mention in one go. Here are some examples of urban gardens:
First, the highline - a disused elevated railway track which is being lovingly transformed into a garden trail.

| Part of the High Line - a genius idea for a disused railway. |
| One of many sculptures along the High Line. |
There are lots of little parks and piazzas in New York, places where you can sit and chat, have your lunch, watch the world go by and escape the bustle.
Riverside Park
| Just along from the Boat Basin, a lovely shady glade. |
| Looking along the Hudson River. |
91st Street Garden
| A beautiful wildflower garden. |
| Completely maintained by volunteers from the neighbourhood. |
Paley Plaza
| A little oasis just off 5th Avenue |
Brooklyn Bridge Park (turned into a cinema)
| What a place to see a movie (It was Rear Window - an absolute classic) |
Many more to follow.
