I've lived all of my life drinking tea, and only recently came to the conclusion that I don't actually like it very much. I think I only drank it because it was a habit. But, recently a friend introduced me to Rooibos - and that I do like. It's like some magic potion that cures all known ills - and it's tasty too.
It may relieve fever, asthma, insomnia, and colic, (it's very good for the kidneys, as it is a diuretic) and is used for its anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. It is anti-carcinogenic, being full of anti-oxidants, thereby reducing cancer-associated changes in cells. It has low level of tannins which will prevent problems with iron absorption. These are just a few of its excellent properties. After a cup of Rooibos, you are raring to go, and in the words of the great Nina Simone 'feeling good'.
If you are finding all this difficult to believe, just check it out on a well-known search engine, and you'll see.
In order to enjoy my cup of Rooibos at its finest, I bought the perfect tea strainer.
I think there's a gap in the market for tea strainers, as it is very difficult to find a nice one. I couldn't wait to try this one out.
It was only then that I discovered that Rooibos has a disadvantage. What? Can this be? I'm afraid so; here's what happened:
I spy with my little eye, something beginning with T. Now, when I got over my disappointment of the tea leaves in the tea, being a 'glass half full' person, I realised that I could turn this to my advantage.
I could read my tealeaves, and thereby know exactly what I need to do with my life. I think this one indicates that I need another tea strainer. Unless, of course, if I squint my eyes, this could be the image of the tall dark handsome stranger I've been waiting for these uhum years .....
Cup of rooibos anyone?
Well if you look closely at the leaves you can make out a face it does have a rather sad mouth but I think that's because your tall dark stranger hasn't found you yet.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks like someone standing on a river bank, fishing for all the lovely fishies in the water.
ReplyDelete"Thou shalt have a fishy, on a little dishy, when the boat comes in!"
Have you been waiting for James Bolam?
(The meanderings of my mind amazes even me sometimes!!)
