The Final Countdown

Yes, it's finally here, well, almost anyway.  It's the moment I've been waiting for since 1998, when I was a mere slip of a girl.  Most of the country will have absolutely no understanding of what I have endured since that time, but where I live (in a county forgotten and ignored and treated with contempt by the powers-that-be), we have had to remain ignorant of popular global culture, and remain in our own little cocoon.

What am I talking about?  Well, this obviously:

The eagle-eyed of you will notice that the Great British Switchover started in my region in MARCH of this year.  Here we are in SEPTEMBER, and I have to wait just a little bit longer.  I only hope it's worth it.

So, on the 7th of September, I will miraculously become digital.  I hope it isn't painful.  It's quite a delicate process, though, a bit like childbirth, completed in stages:

I'll let you know how I get through stage 1.

P.S. - I really, really, really want BBC 4, and heard a little whisper that they are going to axe it!!!!!  I'm thinking of writing to the Queen to protest.  I'm sure she watches BBC 4.

  1. Keep the painkillers handy just in case it does become too painful. I agree you should write to Elizabeth maybe she will start your petition off. Good luck with the next stage.

  2. If it becomes too painful, you can ask for an epidural, the digital switchover team will pay for it!!
